Faith. Relationship. Career

During my teenage years, I was more of a religious person. I went to church every Sunday morning and even on week days. I read my bible but I simply read through my bible without actually taking the time to meditate on the words. I took the passage of the bible which says "be ye not unequally yoked with unbelievers" to the extreme. I would cut out anyone who I thought was an unbeliever.

These were pretty intense rules for a teenager. I didn't understand the true meaning of Christianity. I knew God but I was not in love with him.
This is a constant debate among Christians. Well, not necessarily a debate in words but more of actions. Some of us are so religious that we forget our relationship with God.

RELIGION: As described in the dictionary, it is "a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects". As Christians, we have the bible as our guide/manual and we are instructed to follow the words in it. However, do we really take the time to understand God (the "person" who spoke these words). If you love God, you will obey him when he says "be ye not unequally yoked with unbelievers" but you will not stop there. You will do what a heart that loves God would do, by praying for those people.

Picture this: You are a married woman and your husband sets rules for the home. You obey them but you are not in love with the man who set them. How is this going to work? If your husband says he doesn't like pounded yam on Fridays and you follow this rule strictly, it is evident that you have done nothing wrong. However, it is a woman who loves her husband that understands when and why his need changes.

As opposed to us humans, God's requirements of us do not change. However, there are specific situations when God gives you a direct word and it is only a man who has formed a relationship with him that can hear him. We must be in love with God before we can fully enjoy the blessings that come along with reading, understanding and acting out the words of the bible.

At a point in my life, I would beat myself up for not going to church or praying. I felt praying in the comfort of my home was not good enough. To me, even evening services were not as good as morning services.
Don't get me wrong! I am not asking you to stop going to church and start praying at home. I merely believe that going to church does not automatically form a relationship with God. You have only taken one step in the right direction.
You need to fall in love with God especially if you are unmarried. Now is the time to make God your partner. Make decisions with him, spend time chatting with him and take a walk with him and watch how he will transform your life. Have a lovely week!:D
