Faith. Relationship. Career

When we hear the word "addiction" we think of drugs, alcohol and other similar influences. We forget that we could be addicted to a person, food, video game, work, and even family. Do you ever find yourself thinking about a particular person non-stop. When they upset you it automatically becomes a bad day and when you are having a bad day you still want them I know this sounds ridiculous but I'm sure it has happened to most of us.

It could be a particular food or drink. We all know how unhealthy food tastes the sweetest. Some people complain about how unhealthy a certain food is, yet they still go back for more. Don't get me wrong, there really is nothing wrong in enjoying your comfort food. However, when you make it a god in your life, that is when you have a problem.

Whatever you depend on for happiness controls you. That person, food or job is not the problem. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your object of addiction. You are the one who needs fixing so direct the blame at yourself. Get a new master, let God control and guide you. Nothing should take God's place as your master. In Exodus 20:5 God says "You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord your God am a jealous God,..." God is the only constant and healthy relationship you can depend on. If you find that you love something or someone more than you love God then maybe it's time to get rid of that object.

You may consider these addictions healthy. They may not have any noticeable side effects but placing them above God will only make you a slave. A slave is "a person entirely under domination of some influence or person". There is nothing exciting about being a slave. God created man to rule the earth and have dominion over every other living thing. You cannot make a subordinate your boss and expect to enjoy maximum satisfaction.

It's a long weekend so I will be taking a long break. Leaving these words with you and I hope they bless your heart:)
