FOR EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON

I thought this special post would lift our spirits (including mine). Coming into this year 2016, I had one request only (In fact, that one request was kinda shaky).

Usually, I walk into the year so certain and inspired but this year was different. I had no expectations and simply asked God to surprise me. However, one thing kept lingering on my mind and although I didn't have the strongest faith at the time, I kept saying it out loud to friends and family.

I wanted financial breakthrough!

Fast-forward to four months into the year, I lost my job and the first thing that came to mind was... how is this my financial breakthrough biko. I cried for the first five minutes simply because the whole episode was just cry-worthy. A few minutes later, I got excited and uplifted because I could see God working...I could see him promoting me in an unconventional way.

A few days later, a verse in the bible came to me and it confirmed my belief.
Proverbs 16:9 - We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

A few weeks later, while I was still in my 'honeymoon/fauxcation mode" another verse in Ecclesiastes 3: 1-9 came to me but I let it go cuz I didn't want to go deep for fear of feeling sorry for myself. However, while listening to Joel Osteen's sermon this afternoon, He shared the same message on seasons and I felt encouraged again.

If there is an appointed time for everything and there is a time for every event under heaven

A time to give birth and to die
A time to kill and a time to heal
A time to tear down and a time to build up
A time to search and a time to give up as lost;
A time to keep and a time to throw away.

A time to tear apart and a time to sew together
A time to be silent and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate;
A time for war and a time for peace.

Then there is time to work and stop working.

I pray our good seasons will exceed our bad seasons but one important thing to hold on to in every season of life is our faith. God is there in birth and in death, in war and in peace, in tearing down and building up. Trust that he's working behind the scenes on your behalf and he will use your bad seasons to lift you higher than you expected.
